March Sales: Jaguar Land Rover, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles

Jaguar Land Rover Canada has reported March 2018 sales results. Jaguar Land Rover sold 2,147 units, the best total ever, surpassing the previous record of 2,115 set in March 2017 by 2 per cent.

“Our biggest month ever is something to be proud of and is a testament to our strong retailer network and our great product offering,” said Santino Pirillo, Vice-President, Sales, Jaguar Land Rover Canada, ULC, “While both brands had very strong months, the Land Rover brand exceeded expectations and the Range Rover and Range Rover Sport were the driving force. Best months ever for both vehicles and a very good start to the spring selling season.”

Land Rover

This was the best month ever for Land Rover. Retail sales totaled 1,444 units. This total was a five per cent YOY increase. Range Rover Sport led the way with 424 units sold, a 40 per cent increase and its best month ever. Range Rover also has its best month ever with 236 sales, a 51 per cent increase. The Range Rover Velar, AJAC’S Best Small Luxury SUV, sold 191 units.


For the month, Jaguar reports 703 units sold and its second best month ever. The Jaguar F-PACE had a solid month with 328 units sold, while the Jaguar F-TYPE, AJAC’s 2017 Sports Car of the Year, sold 83 units, a 69 per cent YOY increase.


FCA Canada today reported sales of 24,490 vehicles, an 8 per cent decrease compared with sales in March 2017 of 26,531.


Jeep brand total sales increased 44 per cent in March 2018 to 8,506, setting a monthly record. Breaking all monthly sales records, Jeep Wrangler saw its best month ever with 3,839 vehicles sold.

Setting a March record within the Jeep brand was Compass with 1,217 vehicles sold, up from 112 sold in March 2017.

Jeep and Mopar recently inspired enthusiasts at the 52nd annual Moab Easter Jeep Safari with 7 unique concept vehicles.


Chrysler Pacifica sales of 886 are the best results of any month since the vehicle launch. The Windsor-built 2018 Chrysler Pacifica was named the best minivan for the second year in a row by the New York Daily News Autos team in the newspaper’s third annual Auto Awards.


Dodge Charger sales of 610 were up 43 per cent compared with March 2017 results.

Ram Trucks

Ram Truck brand sales were up 6 per cent to 9,458, marking a monthly record for both the brand, as well as Ram pickup trucks, with sales up 7 per cent to 8,972.

Ram ProMaster Van sales were up 3 per cent to 464.

Alfa Romeo

Alfa Romeo sales of 154 vehicles were up significantly compared with the same month a year ago. Stelvio led the brand with 77 units sold followed by Giulia with 69.


GM Canada’s steady pace of growth continued with Chevrolet, Buick, GMC and Cadillac dealers delivering 30,159 vehicles (total) in March – the company’s best March since 2008.

This included 21,551 Retail and 8,608 Fleet deliveries.

GM Canada retail sales for the first three months of 2018 increased by 2.8 per cent to 45,944 versus the same period the year before, marking the company’s best first quarter since 2008.

Fleet sales also remained strong with 18,987 fleet deliveries calendar year-to-date, driven by commercial and small business fleets.

Porsche Cars Canada, Ltd. (PCL) today reported March 2018 sales of 657 units. A total of 1,485 deliveries were made throughout Q1 2018, a 6.1% increase over the same period last year.

March 2018 Porsche Approved Certified Pre-Owned vehicle sales totaled 216 units; a 26% increase for the quarter.


Stubborn winter weather is doing nothing to put a chill in Subaru Canada, Inc.’s hot streak, with the brand recording its best-ever March sales to close the first quarter of 2018.

Coming off its sixth consecutive annual sales record in 2017, with 54,570 units sold for the year, the strong momentum continued for Subaru Canada, Inc. (SCI) in March with 4,830 units sold, a 3.8 per cent increase compared to the same month last year.

The best March on record comes on the heels of SCI’s best ever January and February sales, rounding out a strong first quarter for SCI with 11,305 units retailed — an impressive 8.5 per cent increase compared to the same quarter in 2017, and the best first quarter on record.

The all-new 2018 Crosstrek led the sales charge for SCI once again, posting its best ever sales in March with 1,362 units retailed for an impressive 102.1 per cent increase compared to the same month last year. Hot on the compact crossover’s heels were the always-popular Outback and Forester models, with 1,074 and 1,043 units sold, respectively.

Sales across the country proved strong in March, with all regions posting gains compared to the same month last year. The Western region led the way, posting a 10.7 per cent increase compared to March 2017, while Quebec, Atlantic and Ontario regions were up 2.3 per cent, 1.5 per cent and 1.1 per cent for the month.
